About the event
Contemplative Circles are one-hour sessions that guide people into listening to what is in the silence of their hearts, reflecting on who they are, what they value, how they interact with the world, etc. It's also an introduction to journaling and free-writing for many people.
Session Format:
A short time of silence to collect ourselves and draw inward.
20 minutes of personal contemplation on a short selected reading, which can be a poem, and essay, a book excerpt, or a few quotes around a common theme. Most people write during this time—I once wrote a poem, which is NOT my usual genre. Some people prefer to just ponder and let the words sink in by reading them over and over. Drawing is not as common but certainly an option.
When we return to each other, people are invited (but not required) to share their thoughts with the group—what in the reading resonated with them, repelled them, made them think, reminded them of something.
End in silence to seal the space and any realizations gained.
Open to anyone 16+
